Intro
Tuesday August 9th. First Day of Sophomore Year. I stand outside in the warm air as I wait for the bus. Jalen and Kaleb too (my neighbors) All of us waiting for Ms. Julie, the bus driver- a kind mid 40s or 30s white woman. School wasn’t but 10 minutes from Lakeland Drive. She picked up my neighborhood first. A girl named Katie (some random white girl) and Mike got on first, he was a sweet thoughtful, playful, hard working light skin. Then my street, a freshman boy, Kaleb- a junior and Jaden - another sophomore. They were brothers then me. Then we drove to the next neighborhood, more like section- it was near a gas station and picked up Jaylen and David.
