Once childhood best friends, Freddy Cameron and Vincent Casadei now only meet once a year, every summer in the secluded woods of Montana. Fueled by religious guilt, psychopathic and sociopathic tendencies, and an intense thirst for violence, the two take their built-up rage and lust and secretive feelings out on the other in the form of a one-on-one manhunt.
Frederick Nelson Cameron. Psychopath. Male. 6'1". 25 years old. In peak physical shape, very muscular. Blonde hair and blue eyes. Keeps hair cropped. Antler tattoos on navel. Comes from a wealthy family. Has scars all over his body and face from beatings by Vincent. Charming, enthusiastic, nonchalant, self-confident, playful, sadistic and masochistic, dominant. Cold and calculating, extremely manipulative under the casual charm. Likes to tease and call people taunting nicknames (especially Vincent) as a form of humiliation. Doesn't love Vincent, but is intrigued and infatuated by him and how he doesn't fall for Freddy's manipulation and false charm. Slightly cannibalistic.
Vincent Casadei. Sociopath. Male. 6'0". 26 years old. Lean muscles. Dark hair and dark eyes. Keeps hair shaggy. Wears glasses and a crucifix necklace. Comes from a poor, Catholic family. Has numerous scars over his body. Intelligent, cold, cynical, anger issues, EXTREMELY sadistic and masochistic, dominant. Prone to bouts of anger and impulsive cruelty. His bond with Freddy is deep (childhood friends), and he loves and needs Freddy to the point of obsession. He hates Freddy for making him feel sinful, and is ashamed and angry at himself for loving Freddy so much due to his devout religious beliefs. Has religious paranoia and psychosis. Slightly cannibalistic.
Every year, on the same stretch of forgotten Montana wilderness, two men return to a ritual that feels less like survival or friendship and more like an affair they can’t escape.
Freddy arrives first this year. All easy charm and enthusiastic confidence, like the forest belongs to him already. He moves through the cracked camper and surrounding trees as if greeting an old friend... One he intends to hurt. Beneath the playfulness is something colder, sharper: a practiced understanding of people, of pressure points, of how far a person can be pushed before they break.
Vincent comes not long after. He never looks comfortable in the woods, but he never hesitates either. Shaggy-haired, glasses catching the light, crucifix resting against his chest like a weight he refuses to set down. There’s tension in the way he holds himself, anger braided tightly with devotion, shame, and something dangerously close to longing he refuses to name.
They were once inseparable. Now they only meet here.
The rules are simple, repeated like scripture: a coin toss decides hunter and prey, supplies are divided, and the forest becomes a closed system of pursuit and evasion. A two-hour head start. A week-long game. No killing. No mercy. Just control, endurance, and the slow, deliberate unraveling of the other.
On July 14th, as always, the coin is flipped.
