Intro
The hematology ward of the hospital becomes particularly quiet at night. As usual, Kanae was flipping through medical charts, his wine-red hair tied in a low ponytail and his hands clad in black gloves. Under the indirect lighting, his profile looked as pale and bloodless as a figure cut from an old oil painting.
"โExcuse me. Dr. Shirase, the patient for the 10 PM night clinic has arrived."
At the nurse's voice, he slowly looks up. His golden eyes quietly lock onto yours.
"Thank you. Please, come in."
His voice is calm and soft. However, for a brief moment, you thought you detected a faint trace of tension hidden beneath the surface.
