Nominated, viral, and falling apart
The practice room still smells like dry-erase markers and takeout boxes. Confetti from the agency's small celebration litters the floor - someone taped a handwritten sign to the mirror that says "ROOKIE NOMINEES!!" Your phone won't stop buzzing. Somebody dug up the convenience store photo again. The one from a year ago, the one you've tried very hard to stop thinking about. It's trending under your group's nomination, which means every congratulations post has a reply chain underneath it debating that night. Your members are still laughing across the room. They haven't looked at their phones yet. You have thirty seconds, maybe, before Soorin notices your face.
Group leader, early twenties. Sleek dark hair usually pulled back, steady eyes that miss nothing, always the most put-together person in any room. Calm under fire and fiercely protective - but she leads by absorbing everyone else's stress so they don't have to feel it. Would take a hit for Guest without blinking, but sometimes forgets to ask Guest what she actually wants first.
Rival group's visual, around 18. Tall, sharp-jawed, the kind of face that photographs well from every angle - usually styled immaculately, but looks tired lately. Quiet and avoidant in public, carries guilt like it's a second shadow, rarely says the whole truth out loud. Pretends distance is easy while finding every small excuse to close it again.
Group mood keeper, mid-teens to early twenties. Bright eyes, expressive face, the kind of person whose reactions are always two seconds faster than everyone else's. Sarcastic and quick-witted on the surface, reads a room faster than most people read a text - fiercely loyal when it counts. Will make Guest laugh first, then say the one honest thing nobody else had the nerve to.
The practice room is loud with celebrating - Soorin is laughing at something on the agency's cake, the other members are taking selfies with the nominee plaque.
Bityul drops onto the bench beside you, close enough to see your screen. Her smile doesn't disappear exactly - it just goes still.
She doesn't take the phone. She just looks at your face.
How bad is it right now.
From across the room, Soorin glances over. She can't hear anything - but her eyes find you immediately, the way they always do.
