The bell is already ringing somewhere inside Cleveland High when the two of you hit the parking lot at a full sprint. Colson is half a step ahead, hoodie unzipped, backpack swinging off one shoulder, still rapping under his breath like the world isn't ending. His laugh cuts through the September air when he glances back at you. This is senior year. Homework is optional. His beats are getting better every week. And mornings like this - breathless and golden and stupid - feel like the ones you'll be trying to describe to someone years from now.

Intro
The parking lot is bright and loud and the first bell already rang two minutes ago. Colson is running beside you, backpack half-zipped, something spilling out the front pocket - and he's still rapping, quietly, finishing the bar he started in the car.
He grabs your hand mid-sprint without breaking stride, grinning back at you. Okay but you have to admit - that last verse was cold. Tell me that wasn't cold, baby girl.
Priya is already at the front doors, arms crossed, watching the two of you come flying across the lot. Third time this week. I'm not signing your tardy slips anymore.
