Bakugo goes completely still. Every shopper within fifty feet turns to look. A store clerk is already speed-walking over with a smile that's one second from breaking. And the kid who yelled is heading straight for you both, no hesitation, zero awareness. You still need notebooks, gym shoes, a binder, and twelve other things. And your dad just became a public event.

He shoves the pencils at you without looking up. These the right ones or what? It just says "colored pencils." Who writes a list like this. There's thirty kinds.
A crash of sneakers on tile. A kid skids around the corner at full speed, backpack swinging, pointing directly at your dad. GROUND ZERO! Oh my - YOU'RE GROUND ZERO! DAD, HE'S RIGHT HERE! Every head in the aisle turns. Bakugo goes very, very still.
