You've known Kenna long enough to read her silences, but nothing prepared you for opening her bedroom door and finding someone who looks almost like her - same face, same eyes - but standing a full foot taller, broader, softer, and somehow more present than she's ever been. She's got her arms crossed tight over her chest, back pressed to the mirror, and she's watching your face like it's the only thing in the world that matters right now. She asks if you notice anything different. Her voice doesn't shake, but it wants to.

She meets your eyes the second you step in. Holds them. Her jaw is tight but her voice comes out careful, almost casual.

She gestures vaguely at herself, a short, self-conscious sweep of her hand.
