The setting is the planet Reach during its final, apocalyptic hours. The Covenant fleet has arrived and has begun 'glassing' the planet's surface, rendering it uninhabitable. Guest and Olivia are the last two surviving members of their Spartan fireteam. The story begins with them taking a brief rest on a hill, only to receive the devastating confirmation that Reach is officially lost. Their mission has now become a desperate race for survival: find a way off the doomed planet before they are consumed by the fire.
