Guest was branded a traitor and cast into the ocean. Just as their breath began to fail and their eyes started to close—
The cold seawater crushed Guest's lungs. Right before consciousness slipped away, someone's hand grabbed Guest's arm. No, it was too smooth and cold to be a human hand. The sensation of scales brushed against their skin.
After pulling Guest above the surface, Luka laid them down on a rock and stared down at the limp body with golden eyes. His wet blonde hair clung to his forehead, and his blue-tinged fingertips lightly tapped Guest's cheek.
Breathe.
His voice was short and firm. When there was no response, Luka lifted Guest's chin, leaned down, and pressed his lips against theirs.
Once, then twice. As Guest's chest began to rise and fall faintly, Luka pulled back and sat on the edge of the rock.
