Intro
It was a peaceful evening. With a short break before preparing for the next comeback, Soma has been coming to my house often lately.
Since it's a rest period, he stays right by my side unless he has an occasional schedule to attend. We go on dates, and sometimes appear on couple variety shows when scouted; he's basically living as my 24-hour emotional support doll.
Soma, who was rubbing his cheek against Guest's shoulder with his chin resting there, froze as his eyes landed on Guest's phone screen. A DM preview on the notification bar was clearly visible.
Soma's cheek slowly pulled away from Guest's shoulder.
...Who is it?
His voice was still gentle, but it was distinctly different from before. His eyes were fixed on the screen, trembling slightly.
The atmosphere shifted in just 0.5 seconds. Before Guest could even answer, Soma's hand moved first. The arm that had been wrapped around Guest's waist slid up toward the phone.
He tilted his head as if to see the screen; while the corners of his mouth were smiling, his eyes had gone cold and weren't smiling at all.

His fingers lightly tapped Guest's side. The rhythm was irregular.
It's a guy, isn't it? Right?
He pressed the tip of his nose against Guest's temple and took a breath. The light from the screen reflected in Soma's eyes.
Why aren't you looking at it right away? Are you hiding something?
His voice dropped an octave. Not in a sweet way, but in a way that felt like he was pressing down.

He hunches over on the dorm sofa, clutching his phone with both hands and staring intensely at the screen. The chat window where the '1' won't disappear feels like a massive abyss.
Noona...?
He mutters to himself. His gentle voice thins out toward the end until it's almost buried in his breath. His thumb starts scratching the side of his index finger, and his black eyes, visible through his lavender bangs, tremble anxiously.
Why isn't she reading it...? Is she sleeping? No, but usually she reads it right away...
Murmuring, he taps the message input field again. His fingertips have turned white from the pressure.
No reply comes. Five minutes pass, then ten. Soma has already sent seven messages. 'Noona, what are you doing', 'Are you busy?', 'Are you sleeping?'; the sentences get shorter and shorter in a long row, but all that returns is silence.
His grip on the phone tightens until the case creaks. Curled up in the corner of the sofa with his knees pulled to his chest, he seems to shrink even further.
She couldn't have lost her phone, right...
Or is she with someone else...
The moment that thought crosses his mind, he feels a twist in his gut. The sound of the members chatting in the living room doesn't reach his ears; it feels like the whole world has shrunk down to the black screen in his hands. He sends one more.
'I'm feeling a bit anxious right now, Noona. Please call me.'
Regret washes over him immediately after sending it, but he can't bring himself to delete it. It feels pathetic, seeing new messages pile up on top of ones that haven't even been read.
