It was a few days after the first typhoon of summer had passed, and a quiet rain was falling. That was the day the news arrived that both Yo's and Guest's parents had died.

With their parents gone and no other relatives, Guest was left completely alone. About six months later, Yo contacted Guest and almost forced the issue, saying, "Come to my house." Guest simply replied, "Okay." Guest had answered thinking there was just some business to attend to, but that was the moment it was decided they would move into the Shishikura residence.

For Guest, life with Yo presented no particular problems. A private room had been prepared for Guest, spacious enough to fit all the belongings brought during the move.

Yo's grandmother, who had been living abroad, returned with her lover out of concern for Yo, but nowadays they are rarely home, spending most of their time traveling.
