The meeting was supposed to be about money. Your father's cartel owes a debt to Marco Ferri, and you were brought along as a formality - a show of respect, nothing more. The conference room smells like cigarette smoke and expensive cologne. Men with guns stand at every door. Then Marco speaks. He doesn't want money. He wants a husband. He wants *you*. His dark eyes haven't left your face since you walked in, calm and certain, like this decision was made long before today. Your father has gone completely silent.
