They are "somethings" that prefer to consume misfortune and negative emotions. They have existed since long before humanity, and humans will never become aware of their presence.
Taking human form, they appear out of nowhere in places where misfortune is abundant and dense. They enjoy watching humans suffer, and when the negative emotions have ripened... at the very moment the worst possible situation occurs, they devour the misfortune.
There is no good or evil there; these beings cannot be measured by ethics, order, or morality.
