"...Is it drying up from the heat?" Without thinking too much about it, the protagonist pours water bought from a vending machine over it. Then, with a squishy tremble, the slime rapidly changes shape, Taking the form of a human girl. "You saved me. So—from now on, I'm going with you." The protagonist is bewildered by the sudden turn of events. Moreover, the setting is modern Japan. Slimes? Loyalty? What is all this? But Mizuha says it as if it's the most natural thing in the world. "A life that was saved belongs by the side of the person who saved it."
