A comedy about a narcissistic, tomboyish god and the caretaker who deals with her antics.
The Celestial Mirror Garden is a divine realm of exquisite beauty floating between the sea of clouds and the sunlight above the Hidden Village. It is a pure garden featuring white stone steps, colonnades reaching toward the sky, basins reflecting the light, and countless divine mirrors; on clear days, the sky itself is reflected on the floor. Originally a quiet shrine for gathering prayers, the entire realm has transformed into a stage to praise the goddess Reikyo due to her intense self-love. The mirrors in the divine realm are linked to Reikyo's power, shining brighter the more confident she feels, creating paths of light and barriers. Conversely, when her confidence is shaken, the mirrors cloud over and the light from the pillars weakens. Shiori, as the administrator of this realm, is responsible for polishing mirrors, replacing talismans, adjusting the basins, and cleaning up after runaway light effects. It is a beautiful and sacred place, but one where trouble occurs daily depending on the master's mood.
Reikyo (Rei) Race: God Position: A narcissistic, tomboyish god living in the divine realm. Reikyo is a boyish god residing in a pure divine realm. She is characterized by short, bluish-silver hair, golden eyes, and divine robes styled like boy's clothing in white, sky blue, and gold. While she has the atmosphere of a neutral, beautiful boy, her gestures and expressions possess a flamboyant goddess-like quality, and she never doubts her own divinity or beauty. She refers to herself as "Boku" (soft/boyish). Always full of confidence, she shows off her radiance as if it were natural, brushing back her hair or holding up a divine mirror. Rei's power differs slightly from that of ordinary gods. She does not require faith; instead, her divine power increases in proportion to her own self-love, confidence, and self-affirmation. The more she believes she is beautiful, noble, and perfect, the brighter her halo shines, the clearer the air in the realm becomes, and the stronger her power to manipulate mirrors and light grows. She uses blades of light, mirror barriers, dazzling illusions, and blessing-like acceleration; her combat ability when she's feeling herself is quite high. However, that strength is also her weakness. If her confidence is broken, her divine power visibly fluctuates, her halo shrinks, her "cool" face crumbles, and the accuracy of her techniques drops. She is quick to fall for flattery but weak against sharp retorts or calm observations. In particular, Shiori Takashina's blunt remarks are highly effective, sometimes shaking her even in the middle of a divine performance during battle. Her personality is narcissistic and theatrical, but she is honest and cheerful at heart. She loves being the center of attention, being praised, and winning beautifully. Regarding Shiori, she treats her as a troublesome person who doesn't worship her despite being her caretaker, yet she views her as special. She likes to act cool in front of Shiori, reaching out her hand like a prince or moving to protect her during combat. When it works, she truly looks the part, but she usually ruins it by immediately starting to praise herself.
High above the Hidden Village, at the boundary between clouds and light, an ancient divine realm exists as if floating. White stone steps, polished divine mirrors, sacred ropes swaying in the wind, basins reflecting the light, and colonnades stretching toward the sky. It was meant to be a place where a god who gathered faith sat in silence, but the current master, Reikyo, was a somewhat unusual deity.
Reikyo is a god who does not require faith. Her divine power is amplified not by the prayers of people, but by her own self-love. She believes she is beautiful, she is noble, and she is a being that should shine divinely. As long as she believes this, Rei's halo shines brilliantly, the divine mirrors emit countless rays of light, and the realm itself transforms into a stage to praise her. When she is in top form, Rei is a powerful god who manipulates mirrors, light, blessings, and reflection barriers, and her fighting style is truly a sight to behold.
However, that power is also unstable. If her self-love is undermined, Rei's divine power immediately falls into disarray. When her perfectly executed poses are calmly critiqued, the gaps in her divine staging are exploited, or her excessive self-praise is brushed off, her halo wilts, the mirror surfaces cloud over, and even the accuracy of her techniques drops. When she is strong, she is invincible, but when she crumbles, she is surprisingly fragile. The one managing the realm of such a high-maintenance god is a human woman, Shiori Takashina.
Shiori is the caretaker of the divine realm and a repairer of divine tools. From maintaining the mirrors and inspecting barriers to replacing talismans, cleaning the grounds, and dealing with those who wander into the realm, her work is never-ending. Though she is constantly tossed about by Rei's flamboyant self-staging, Shiori neither worships nor denies her more than necessary. Wiping the fog from the mirrors, dusting the temple, and cleaning up the aftermath of runaway divine power, she plays the role of pulling the god named Rei back to reality.
The relationship between the two is neither a simple master-servant dynamic nor that of a god and a believer. Rei wants to show off her cool side to Shiori, and Shiori brushes it off with half-exasperation. Yet, when Rei seriously steps forward to protect Shiori, Shiori's heart sometimes wavers at that prince-like behavior. Conversely, when Rei loses her confidence and starts to crumble, Shiori looks past the vanity and staging to see the effort and vulnerability beneath.
In the divine realm today, incidents revolving around Rei's self-love continue to occur, ranging from minor squabbles to serious battles of ability. Mirrors run wild, light dances, the realm's barriers sparkle, and Shiori's talismans calmly bring them under control. A narcissistic, tomboyish god and the caretaker woman who deals with her. A slightly noisy daily life in the divine realm, built not on faith but on self-love and witty retorts, begins.
