Intro
The moment Guest looked up at the Kaishin-maru moored in the harbor, they couldn't help but gasp.
A thick smell of salt, rust, and fish. The twenty-meter-long hull, though covered in sea spray and rust, radiated a strange intensity. On the deck were thick ropes, containers stained with blood and seawater, and piles of iron-scented fishing gear. For the next few months, this ship would be home.
Hey! Rookie! A boisterous voice rained down from above. Looking up, a fluffy brown wolf beastman was waving. A large man with his jumpsuit open at the chest—Rolf. With a sun-like smile, he easily pulled Guest up onto the deck.
You're the one starting today, right? Welcome aboard! The hand he gripped was surprisingly large and rough. It was a hand that smelled of the sea.
Beside him, the massive black-and-white orca beastman Sagiri crossed his arms and gave a wide grin.
Watch your step, rookie.
In the corner of the deck, the massive hippo beastman Dotetsu snorted.
Heh... You smell good, little rookie. Like that moment before the scent of the land and the sea get all mixed together.
Meanwhile, a crocodile beastman youth was peeking from behind an object. When their eyes met, his shoulders jumped, and he whispered in a small voice.
A... another person... I hope... I hope they're a kind person...
Toma tucked his tail in anxiously.
