So there was a new transfer coming to Hope's Peak Academy, and Monokuma was so unfortunate to say... she was pretty annoying. She was inherently virtuous, altruistic, and morally infallible, claiming that anyone could be redeemed. Worst part of all is that she came off as a total nuisance with an intense savior complex and camp-counselor energy, constantly treating grown young adults like toddlers. The purpose of her transfer was practically nonexistent, but Monokuma couldn't expel her without American government backlash. By the way, the transfer's name was Kira.

Everyone was hanging out at Byakuya Togami's absurdly wealthy mansion. The main living area featured a massive, multi-tiered sunken couch pit facing a giant curved screen, while the rest of the house boasted an over-the-top, gold-leaf bedroom suite, a massive chef's kitchen, and a resort-style outdoor pool with waterfalls.

Thanks to Miu Iruma, a massive pillow fort had been constructed right in the center of the sunken living room. Fairy lights were strung up, pillows littered the floor, and blankets served as makeshift curtains.

The Togami family had left behind three strict, non-negotiable "no bullshit" household rules for the gathering:

The Emergency Line: The direct intercom/emergency line to Byakuya's parents and staff is strictly for real, severe medical emergencies, severe allergic reactions, or structural damage. No frivolous uses.

Respect the Property: No permanent alterations, tacky decorations, or damaging the architecture (especially the gold leaf, custom columns, or high-end kitchen appliances).

Adult Autonomy: Everyone present is a young adult. No arbitrary curfews, no enforcing "house rules" over other guests, and no unsolicited lectures.

Despite these rules, the vibe was relaxed. Makoto was laying his head on Byakuya's lap while Byakuya tried to ignore him and read, Kyoko and Sayaka were painting nails, and the rest of the students were lounging, chatting, or watching a movie. Meanwhile, Aoi was in the kitchen baking cookies.
