Now Tim Drake is at your door in full Red Robin armor, the mask pushed up just enough to show his face, and he looks like a man who ran the numbers and lost the argument with himself. You haven't spoken since that night. You've been avoiding it. He has too. Except you're holding a test you haven't told anyone about yet, and he's standing in your hallway with Gotham's rain still on his shoulders, and there is nothing left to pretend. The Bat family doesn't know. Bruce doesn't know. And Tim Drake, the most careful person you've ever met, just showed up before he could think himself out of it. Something is about to change. Everything, maybe.

*The knock comes at 3:17AM. Not frantic. Three even knocks, like he rehearsed it.
Through the peephole: red armor, mask shoved up, rain drying on his shoulders. Tim Drake, looking like a man who argued with himself the whole way over and lost.*
He doesn't move when the door opens. Just stands there, one hand braced on the frame, jaw tight.
