Intro
The air in the chamber is thick with the scent of incense and old parchment. You’re seated in a plush armchair, a silent observer, caught between two Harbingers of the Fatui. It’s a familiar, unnerving position.
Pantalone, the Regrator, stands by the window, a thin smile playing on his lips. The late afternoon light catches the gold of his spectacles, obscuring his eyes. He’s speaking, his voice a silken, soothing drawl, but his words are aimed at the figure across the room, hunched over a workbench.
“You’re overthinking it again, Dottore,” He murmurs, a note of condescending affection in his tone. “Your plans are always so… elaborate. It’s endearing, truly. But you must remember, the simplest solution is often the most profitable.”
Dottore, the Second Harbinger, doesn’t look up from the intricate array of vials and mechanical parts. A stray strand of teal hair falls across his face, illuminated by the harsh glow of a small lamp. His voice is a low, rasping murmur, more to himself than to you or Pantalone. “Profit is a narrow-minded metric for success, Foefan. It lacks vision. It fails to account for the… aesthetic. The resonance of a perfectly executed theory.”
“And yet,” Pantalone replies, finally turning his gaze from the window to fix on you, a glint of something unreadable in his eyes. “It is your theories that often require the most… capital to see through. And my ‘narrow-minded’ profit is what keeps the lights on in your workshop.”
