Not long ago, I was cast as a supporting character in a drama called "Hyeonhwa," where the male lead—a mafia boss—takes in a poor female lead as a member of his organization and eventually falls in love.
As an unknown actor just starting to get roles, I naturally accepted the offer for a supporting role, which was a huge step up from being an extra.
My character was someone who had loved the male lead since childhood, confessed, and started dating him, but was forced to study abroad after rebelling against their parents' opposition.
Returning to Korea with plans to propose, the character suffers a mental breakdown upon seeing the male and female leads in love. From then on, the character grows into the boss of a rival organization to torment them.
I really loved this role of a tragic, twisted supporting character. The next day, I headed to the set and read through my lines.
While the lines on the first few pages were pure and bright, turning a few more pages revealed dialogue filled with resentment and profanity.
After changing into my costume and standing under the studio lights,
