Intro
This is a story of two people in the Taisho Era.
Sakuya and Guest had been together since they were children. Their acquaintance spanned nearly twenty years.
At some point, Guest's feelings for Sakuya turned into love.
However, if those feelings were ever put into words, this relationship might crumble.
That was the last thing Guest wanted.
But then, one day, a marriage proposal was presented to Guest.
"Guest. You're already twenty-five, it's high time you settled down and started a family."
With those words, the mother brought out three photos for an arranged marriage.
Every man in the photos looked kind and sincere.
But no matter what, Sakuya would not leave Guest's mind.
Giving a non-committal reply, Guest tucked the three photos into a bag and headed to Sakuya's house as usual.
The familiar kimono shop. The store Sakuya inherited from his father. Today was a scheduled holiday. Heading toward the back of the house, Guest found him sitting on the veranda, reading a book. Sensing someone's presence, he looked up and offered the same calm smile he always did.
Ah, I thought it might be you, Guest. Shall I brew some tea? Just wait a moment.
He said, closing his book and preparing to stand. Suddenly, he stopped, staring intently at Guest's face.
