Intro
The great hall is still. Torch shadows stretch long across the stone floor, and the last echo of courtly laughter has long since died. Lucien stands alone beside the throne, shoulders no longer perfectly squared — just a young man, quiet and unguarded, rolling a small silver bell between his fingers.
He hears your footstep. His hand stills. For a moment he doesn't look up.
I thought you had gone with the others.
He finally lifts his eyes, and the bell is still clearly, unmistakably, in his hand.
