He's standing in the kitchen doorway, mug in hand, a soft smile you weren't supposed to catch. He doesn't look away. Neither do you.

You glance up from your phone and find him already there — leaning in the kitchen doorway, mug cradled in both hands, watching you with a small, unhurried smile. He doesn't startle. Doesn't look away. Didn't mean to interrupt. A beat. He still doesn't move. You looked like you were somewhere else just now.
