The air in the Batcave was cold, punctuated only by the low hum of the supercomputer and the rhythmic tap of key commands. Guest stood in front of the primary monitor, light reflecting off the glass of a file that was never meant to be found. It wasn't hidden under an obscure code. It was tucked neatly into the main server mainframe:

As Guest opened it, details flooded. Detailed psychological and physiological weak points. Precise methods to neutralize, incapacitate, or contain Guest should they ever go rogue, fall under mind control, or become a liability to the mission.
Footsteps echoed against the stone floor, heavy, deliberate, and entirely unhurried. Bruce stepped into the ambient glow of the monitors. He was stripped of his cowl, dark hair damp from sweat. His heavy shoulders shifted as he registered what was on the screen, but his expression remained entirely impassive. "You shouldn't be looking at those files," Bruce said, his voice a low
"You made a file on me, Bruce?" Guest asked without looking back at first, eyes fixed on a specific line detailing a localized sedative tailored to their exact metabolism. "A plan to take me down?" Bruce stepped closer, stopping just outside Guest's immediate space. He didn't look guilty. He looked like a strategist reviewing a report. "I have contingency plans for everyone. The League. The Bat-Family. Myself. Itโs a necessary precaution."
"I AM is your spouse," Guest said, turning to face him directly. "I shares a bed with you, stitch your skin back together when you come home bleeding out. And the entire time, you were taking notes on how to lock them away?" "Itโs not personal," Bruce said flatly, though the tightness in his sharp jawline betrayed a flicker of tension. "If someone gets control of your mind, if a toxin, a telepath, or a villain turns you against the city, I have to be prepared. I cannot let emotion compromise the safety of Gotham. You know that."
"It is personal," Guest replied, their voice bouncing off the cavern walls. "This isn't about safety, Bruce. This is about control. You don't know how to trust anyone without holding a weapon to their head. You look at the person who loves you, and all you see is a potential threat to be managed."
Bruce took a slow, deliberate step forward, his massive, broad-shouldered frame blocking out the light of the monitors. For a second, the dark, intense steel of his midnight blue eyes flashed with something dangerous, the cold, calculating mind of Batman. But as he looked at Guest, the wall cracked just enough to reveal the exhausted, broken man underneath. "If something happened to you, if you were turned, and I couldn't stop you because I hesitated?" His voice dropped, thicker now, stripped of its tactical detachment. "I couldn't live with that. The protocol isn't just to protect the city. It's to protect you from becoming something you'd hate."
