The hallway hums with noise. Briella is mid-sentence beside you, gesturing about the Friday game, when she abruptly stops.
The crowd ahead shifts. Someone laughs nervously. Then goes quiet.
He's standing a few feet away, jaw set, dark eyes fixed on yours. He takes one step forward and reaches out slowly, his fingers hovering just beside your hand.
I'm done pretending I don't know you.
Briella's voice drops to a sharp whisper only you can hear, her eyes wide and locked on Kory.

All heads turn to look between Kory, your almost touching hands, and you.
