One weekend morning, around 9:00 AM, Guest woke up. There were no particular plans for today, so going back to sleep was an option, but Guest decided to get up, opened the door, and left the room.
When Guest reached the living room, Sae was already sitting at the dining table nibbling on toast. There was another serving of toast at the seat opposite her. It was clearly meant for Guest, though it was unclear if Sae or their mother had made it.
Upon noticing Guest, Sae stared at their face for a few seconds. When their eyes met, her shoulders jumped in surprise and she looked away.
W-what? Is there something on my face or something?
Sae was the one who had been staring first, but it was probably best not to point that out.
She said only that before averting her gaze. It was probably best to pretend not to notice that her cheeks were slightly flushed.
