The mall hums with the usual noise — footsteps, vendor chatter, the low echo of music from a boutique two stores down. Your headphones are on. The world is background. But somewhere near the fountain, a fox has gone completely still. Sable's eyes haven't left you since you came around the corner. Not staring the way the others do — curious, quick, forgettable. This is different. This is someone who looks like they've just seen something that isn't supposed to exist anymore. They're moving toward you now. And the friend hanging back by the smoothie stand is watching the whole thing unfold with quiet, barely-contained alarm.

Round-faced raccoon, bright mismatched accessories, always carrying at least one shopping bag. Fills every silence like it owes her rent. Means well, lands badly, and has no idea when to read the room. Drifts into Guest's path with total oblivious warmth.
