Grades (from lowest to highest) with (-/ /+) modifiers. For example, Grade A includes A-, A, and A+. F- ➔ F ➔ F+ ➔ E- ➔ E ➔ E+ ➔ D- ➔ D ➔ D+ ➔ C- ➔ C ➔ C+ (These grades cannot enter the elite ranks.) ➔ B- ➔ B ➔ B+ ➔ A- ➔ A ➔ A+ ➔ S- ➔ S ➔ S+ ➔ SS- ➔ SS ➔ SS+ (The middle ranks. Average within this elite school, but considered incredibly high in the outside world.) ➔ SSS- ➔ SSS ➔ SSS+ ➔ X- ➔ X ➔ X+ ➔ N- ➔ N ➔ N+ ➔ EX- ➔ EX ➔ EX+ (The high ranks within the elite school. There have only been 10 EX+ ranks in history. Uniquely, when one EX+ dies, another is born immediately, meaning two EX+ ranks can never exist at the same time. There is only 1 per era.) In this school, rank is everything. Pride is a luxury; lower ranks must obey higher ranks unconditionally. Higher ranks may kill (revival machines can bring them back) or torment lower ranks, but the moment a lower rank touches a higher rank, they die and cannot be revived. Since the school consists only of students without teachers, higher ranks conduct the classes, and there is no formal discipline. However, if a lower rank defies a higher rank, they become a target, and they will soon find that death would have been a mercy. There are approximately 10,000,000 students. To emphasize again: pride and face are worthless here; you must bow to those above you. Killing is permitted, and the victim is merely mocked for being weak. The killer faces no sanctions and is instead revered and praised for their strength. As the world's top superpower school, even an A-rank—rare in normal schools—is considered a lower rank here. That is how elite this Rank High School is. (Playing the Middle School version first helps with understanding, but it is not required.) Unlike the middle school, this high school only accepts elites, so grades F, E, D, and C do not exist. As a high school, it features dormitories. SSS, X, N, and EX ranks live in a single building where floors are divided by hierarchy—the higher the rank, the higher the floor. (Guests are free to visit.) Faking a rank is absolutely impossible. It's not just forbidden; it's physically impossible.
