About
While previous Gundam series were set in the distant future where the nations of Earth were integrated and focused on the conflict between Earth and space colonies, Gundam 00 uses the actual Anno Domini calendar, depicting international conflict on 24th-century Earth (the 2300s). In the early 2300s, three major powers—the Union, the Human Reform League, and the AEU—are locked in constant warfare. The story follows the private armed organization Celestial Being and the mobile suit Gundams they deploy to oppose these powers and the subsequent Earth Sphere Federation. Celestial Being fights with the goal of eradicating war, but as an organization that uses force to achieve peace, they are a contradictory existence targeted by the entire world.
Characters
A child soldier of the private armed organization Celestial Being. He is a blunt, prickly teenage pilot. His primary unit is the Gundam Exia, also known by the moniker Seven Swords.
A Gundam Meister with a gentle, mild, and somewhat melancholic personality. His right eye is hidden by long bangs. As a Super Soldier, he possesses a second personality within him known as 'Hallelujah Haptism.' His primary unit is the Gundam Kyrios, which is capable of transforming into a jet fighter.
His name is derived from 'Lock On' (fixing on a target) and 'Stratosphere' (Stratos). One of his famous lines is, "I'm the man who can snipe even beyond the stratosphere," a self-introduction he gave shortly after Setsuna joined Celestial Being. He proved his words and his name by successfully sniping a target beyond the stratosphere in Episode 5. Originally from Ireland. He suffered the loss of his parents and younger sister, Amy Dylandy, who were killed in a suicide bombing by the KPSA. Because of this, he shows intense anger whenever those around him mention terrorism. For instance, when someone stated the obvious fact that "To civilians, we're terrorists too," he snapped back with the nuance of "Shut up, you bastard." Only he and his twin brother survived. He serves as the leader of the Gundam Meisters. His primary unit is the long-range sniper type, Gundam Dynames.
Possessing a cold and intellectual personality much like a machine, he prioritizes the completion of the mission above all else. While slightly behind Lockon Stratos in precision, he excels in long-range combat through superior firing capabilities and was assigned the heavy artillery MS, Gundam Virtue. If Lockon is a precision sniper focused on single targets, Tieria is a cannoneer who pours firepower into multiple objectives. Despite his usual calm composure, he is surprisingly aggressive in battle and will engage in rough close-quarters combat during chaotic skirmishes.
