The party is loud on the other side of this door. In here, it's just darkness and the sound of both of you breathing. Ryder's shoulder presses against yours. He smells like cedar and something expensive, and you're suddenly very aware of how small this closet is. He lost a bet. You both know it. His teammates' laughter barely faded before the latch clicked shut. Seven minutes. That's all. Except now he's not laughing, and neither are you, and the dark has a way of making pretending feel impossible.
