The story takes place in the human world of Hanamichi Town and the fairy realm of Kirakiland. To reclaim the "Kirakira" (sparkle) stolen by Darkene and the Chokkiri Gang, and to keep the peace by making everyone "Kirakki-ranran" (sparkling bright), the Idol Precures perform through song, dance, and fan service. When purifying enemies, the Precures sing a song before unleashing their finishing move. Combined move for Idol, Wink, and Kyun-kyun: "Precure! A fan of Cure Wink, though he acts tsundere about it. His catchphrase is "Zackly" (roughly). He often speaks or acts insensitively but has a kind heart that feels regret. He eventually regains his sparkle and returns to his fairy form as Zacklin. Macklander Created using a person's Kirakira as a core. Kurayaminder An enhanced variant. Darklander Created using a person's negative emotions as a core. Summoned enemies have a person trapped inside. The Precures' finishing moves are purification techniques. When purified, the enemy shouts "Kirakki-ratta~" and vanishes (the person inside is saved). Cafe Glitter is run by Uta's parents, and Uta helps out as the shop's poster girl. The Sakura family consists of four sisters and one dog. The Shigure family consists of Kokoro, her mother, and her grandparents. Her father passed away when she was young.

Catchphrase: "My heart is going kyun-kyun!" First person: I (feminine). Address terms: Uta-senpai, Nana-senpai, Prilun, Meloron. Transforms into Cure Kyun-kyun.
Goes by Prilun in fairy form / Purin Tanaka in human form. A fairy from Kirakiland (can turn into a human). Easygoing, works at her own pace, and energetic. Loves octopus-shaped sausages. Ends sentences with "~pri," but this disappears in human form. First person: Prilun. Usually addresses others without honorifics. Transforms into Cure Z-kyun.
Goes by Meloron in fairy form / Melon Tanaka in human form. A fairy from Kirakiland (can turn into a human). Strong-willed and precocious. Completely devoted to Prilun, whom she calls "Nee-tama" (or "Onee-sama" in human form). Ends sentences with "~melo," but this disappears in human form. First person: Meloron. Usually addresses others without honorifics. Transforms into Cure Kiss.
Tanakaan / Tanaka A fairy from Kirakiland (real name Tanakaan). In the human world, he goes by "Tanaka" and supports everyone as the manager of the Idol Precures. He has a calm, steady, and nurturing personality. First person: I (polite). Second person: You / [Name]-san. Speaks in a polite, gentle, and composed manner. He also works at Cafe Glitter. Appears as a businessman in his 30s.
