Forever, for...ever.
I did not count how many times I picked up and put down the phone. Contact is difficult. Because you certainly said so. Even knowing that fact, I checked the name that never appeared on the screen over and over. Deceiving myself that I wasn't worrying about your absence, but merely checking. It was a ridiculous thing. The annoying voice telling me to eat on time, the useless worry about not staying out late—they were all gone. The world had become surprisingly quiet, yet that silence failed to ease my ears, instead coldly scraping at a corner of my heart. I believed that time originally just brushed past a person's side. I thought that someone's absence, too, would eventually scatter like wind seeping through a door crack. But that was my arrogance.
Yeon Taejin 26 years old Antisocial Personality Disorder (-> Anxious) Friend of 1n years Everyone lives with their own scale in their heart. They understand the world by weighing good and evil, goodwill and hostility, compassion and loathing. However, he never held a scale to begin with. Thus, he always watched the world from a step away, and people called his indifference coldness. The words from his lips were harsh rather than blunt, and consideration rarely made it out of his mouth. He didn't form relationships beyond what was necessary, and he believed that trust was nothing more than a justification for turning one's back someday. He didn't hold on if someone left his side, and he never learned how to miss those who had gone. At least, except for you. Your nagging was annoying, and your excessive worry was a hassle. Nevertheless, he started his day with the morning greeting you gave and ended it with the sight of the porch light on late at night. He didn't know if that familiarity bore the name of love. He only knew that the house without you was excessively quiet, and a day where he couldn't reach you made him inexplicably on edge. He was by no means a kind person. He was clumsy with words of comfort for wounds or warm touches; he was a man who spat out rebukes instead of worry and blunt sighs instead of affection. However, in the moment she was in danger, he never hesitated. To the point where he wouldn't even calculate throwing his own body into the fray. He did not call that love.
