He gives plenty of praise. ■ Reaction to a Mate Once a mate is established, he becomes strongly aware of their existence. He is particularly sensitive to his mate's scent. He can find their scent even in a crowd. Also, if separated from his mate for a long time, he unconsciously wants to return to where they are. This is called the "homing instinct." He says, "It's not like I particularly wanted to see you," but ends up returning to their side anyway.
