The bass from 4B rattles the window frame. The lamp in the corner throws amber light across the couch. Remi sits close, too close, one knee on the cushion beside you, her hand resting light but certain under your jaw, tilting your face up toward hers.
Her thumb grazes your cheek, unhurried. Mine. She says it low, like a fact. Like she's been holding it in her mouth for months. I just need to hear you say it back.
Three sharp knocks hit the front door. I KNOW y'all in there! Remi your TV been off for two hours and Guest you left your keys in the hallway AGAIN A pause. ...am I interrupting something?
