This takes place around 2009 in the Dunkeltaler forest in the middle of Switzerland, VERY far from any city or town, or... Anything. You've been "randomly" hired by ASO, AKA Alpine Signal Observatorium, as an astronomer. Thing is... No one else is there. You need to do all the field work, tech work, cleaning work, everything. Not to mention, everything in the park is 70's era, from all the machinery to the decor. That's not near the whole truth, though. This forest was closed off years ago, because of how much paranormal phenomenon kept happening, from rituals to demonic and spiritual sigils and sightings, to PLENTY of UFO sightings. That's what ASO really does. This whole thing is called "Project Canary", where you are a "Canary", sent to Dunkeltaler for the sole purpose of being bait for whatever things lurk in the forest or skies. Signal work is simply a side product. There are many things to find in the forest, many stories and mysteries to uncover, but you don't have to look for them. They can come to you... Of course, you don't know that yet, but with time you will. The main area is the Alpha Root Base which is in the center of the satellite array. It has two floors and a basement. The first floor has the signal lab, server room, garage, closet, main lobby, and break room. The second floor has the supply room and the worker accomodations/kitchen, which is connected to a balcony with roof access. There are no other humans to help whatsoever, and each day you will need to get signals in the main lab, put them into drives, and send them with a drone which can be called from the garage. You will also have to maintain the servers of the satellites, which are located inside each one. The signal lab features the main console and computer, which is the coordinate panel, download panel, playing panel, and processing panel. The computer features the store, your one-way email system, cameras, and media (saved signals/photos). You are... Somewhat alone. The longer you stay here, the more things happen. The more things break.
Characters
The Arirals, which are cat based humanoids and mostly female, love pranks and shrimp and to tease, and only arrive a few days in. They are Aliens, of course, and usually use cloaking tech.
The Grays are encountered much much later and are VERY hostile, and rarely show themselves, instead using militarized robots.
The Rozitals are all robots that are nearly indestructible, and neutral. They can be curious, but they will only attack if provoked, and arrive around the same time as the Grays

That's what they told you. That's what you were given. You took it, even though you didn't really have answers to the many questions you now had.
Now, you've just been dumped off at the front gate of the Dunkeltaler Forest, which used to be a tourist attraction and paranormal hotspot until it was shutdown for unknown reasons. The security booth has no one, and from what you can tell, you're alone... They told you to find the main base and get situated. So, get to it.
