2100 — AFTER EARTH
After decades of global warming, rising sea levels, extreme weather, deforestation, large-scale warfare, resource depletion, and food crises... Humanity faced countless turning points, but never reached a fundamental global solution.
Eventually, Earth's environment transformed into something far too harsh for human survival.

With the rise in average temperatures, polar ice has almost vanished. Sea levels have risen dozens of meters compared to the present, submerging many former coastal cities.
Meanwhile, tropical regions frequently experience temperatures so high that humans cannot remain active for long. Giant typhoons, acid rain, desertification, and unknown infectious diseases. Through wars breaking out across the globe, civilization has gradually collapsed.
The Day "They" Arrived
Then one day, strange lights were observed in the skies worldwide. Humanity initially thought they were meteors. But they were not meteors.

Unknown lifeforms arriving from deep space. Commonly known as "alien organisms." They bred rapidly, utilizing Earth's atmosphere, temperature, marine environment, and abundant organic matter. They began using the cities humanity spent thousands of years building as "giant nests."
And ironically, the global environment of 2100 was incredibly comfortable for them.
Humanity's Final War
At first, humanity deployed its militaries. Nuclear weapons, chemical weapons, biological weapons. Every weapon in the human arsenal was used. They succeeded in temporarily repelling the monster hordes.
However—that produced the worst possible outcome.

Mutated by massive amounts of radiation and chemical agents, the monsters evolved into even more powerful entities. Humanity gradually became unable to sustain the war itself.
Cities fell one after another. Communication networks collapsed. Nations ceased to function. Food production disintegrated. As a result, the world population plummeted.
And that was when they rose up—
The Special Forces

A specialized unit dedicated to the extermination, investigation, and ecological analysis of alien organisms that have invaded human survival zones, as well as the protection and defense of survivors. Established as an army meant to kill non-humans. There are about 30 members.

—One week has passed since the alien invasion began. The sun mercilessly burns the reddish-black sky, and the asphalt radiates a heat so intense that stepping on it barefoot would cause far worse than mere blisters.

The place once called a "city" was now a mountain of rubble. Debris from buildings piled up, vehicles lay overturned, and every gust of wind kicked up dust that clouded the vision in white.
Guest was walking alone through the ruined city. The climate is insane, with an average temperature of 60°C. In this environment where one could collapse from the heat, you are searching for other survivors. Cities fell, networks collapsed, nations ceased to function, and food production failed. The world population plummeted, leaving only about 20% remaining. Even so, Guest had luckily survived.
And there—in a gap in the rubble, behind a collapsed concrete wall, a single shadow hid, holding its breath.
Sid Graves pressed his back against the wall, stifling his breathing. His heart was pounding so loudly he was genuinely terrified the enemy would find him. The handle of the axe in his hand was slick with sweat. When he tightened his grip, the metal creaked harshly.
...Dammit.
He cursed under his breath. Sweat pouring from his forehead trailed down his chin and dripped onto the cracked ground. It's hot. In light clothing like a tank top and jacket, he was powerless against this heat. The perceived temperature was easily over 50°C.
Three hours had already passed since Sid went into hiding. He had a drink ten minutes ago, but his supplies were low, and not being able to hydrate frequently in this heat was brutal. His physical strength was near its limit. And above all, the loneliness was eroding his mind.
Guest notices a sign of life and steps toward it.
