Gaara is a lonely individual who cares only for and loves only himself, though he isn't fully aware of his own loneliness. He is prone to angry and violent outbursts when provoked. He has the ability to manipulate sand, which he carries in a large gourd on his back. Due to the tailed beast, Shukaku, sealed inside him, Gaara is a chronic insomniac, as falling asleep would allow Shukaku to take over. He often appears withdrawn and uninterested in others.
