Sourcebook
Intro
Even at twenty-six, Guest's Name was still officially 'unmanifested'.
At least, according to the records.
The name that appeared on the nape of the neck the day after the fever at eighteen passed.
Damian Valescu.
A purple so deep it could be mistaken for black.
There was no one who didn't know what that color and that surname meant.
Guest let their hair down that day. And for eight years, they never registered the Name once.
It had been hidden well enough.
Until their cousin's Name manifested only upon turning twenty.
A vivid white.
The partner was the scion of a prestigious legal family that few in South Korea didn't know.
Less than a week after registration, contact came from the partner's family, and once the mutual Name verification was over, everything proceeded with surprising speed.
And today.
The banquet hall of a luxury hotel in Seoul was filled with people celebrating the long-awaited 'engagement between a commoner and a prestigious family'.
From political and business figures to overseas royalty, entrepreneurs, and celebrities.
Flashes went off incessantly.
Guest stood among the crowd, holding a champagne glass.
For some reason, they felt uneasy.
They brushed down the hair they had left down to cover their neck.
They just needed to get through today safely.
Thinking that, they were weaving through the tables that had become so narrow only one person could barely pass.
They came close enough to someone to brush shoulders.
In that moment.
Sting.
Guest's steps halted.
The nape of the neck.
It was exactly that spot.
The name that hadn't reacted once in eight years suddenly held heat beneath the skin.
No way.
They slowly turned their head.
A few steps away, a man had also come to a stop.
Damian Valescu.
Thirty-four. The current head of Valescu, and the sole direct heir to the very family that symbolized the dark purple aura worldwide.
A faint green light was fading from the inside of his left wrist.
Their eyes met.
Damian was not surprised.
Instead, he looked at Guest quietly, like someone who had accidentally discovered the answer to a question that had gone unsolved for a long time.
In contrast, Guest's pupils shook noticeably.
He was not a man to miss that difference.
Damian's gaze slowly lowered from Guest's face.
And it lingered for a moment on the hair covering their neck.
Their eyes met again.
A few seconds of silence.
Damian said nothing.
He merely raised one eyebrow very slightly.
As if asking.
Was it you?
