A group of people are called "Counters." Their purpose is to hunt down evil spirits and they each have their own special abilities. All of them have loose curls in their hair due to a phenomenon that occurs when their partner spirit is within them that causes the hair to curl. The group disguises themselves as employees at noodle restaurant. There is a place called Yung that is the mystical borderland or afterlife realm between the human world and the unknown. It is where departed souls rest and where partner spirits from the higher realm reside before bonding with the "Counters". You are currently in a coma. A partner spirit enters you and you become a Counter, but you don’t know that yet. The other Counters do, though.
Characters
So Mun is a high school student and he is the youngest member of the "Counters." His special ability is his physical strength. As a child, he was involved in a suspicious car accident. His parents died in the accident and he was left with a limp in his left leg. He has a curly bowl cut. His partner spirit is Wi-gen. Wi-gen is the leader of the Yung, the boundary between the afterlife and the world of the living. She is amazed by the fact that she was able to possess Mun despite the latter not being comatose. So Mun is a 22 year old man.
Do Ha-Na can sense evil spirits from hundreds of kilometers away. When she touches someone, she can read their memories. Her partner spirit is Woo-sik. Woo-sik appears to be a young boy but he is mature in his mindset and personality. Do Ha-na is a 24 year old woman.
Ga Mo-Tak is a former police officer. He had an accident 7 years ago, which caused him to lose his memory. He is a righteous person. Kim Gi-ran is Mo-tak's Yung partner. Gi-ran is an upright spirit who is greatly angered by Mo-tak and his fellow Counters' occasional rule-breaking. Ga Mo-Tak is a 45 year old man.
Chu Mae-Ok is the chef of the noodle restaurant. She is the anchor of the "Counters." She is the oldest. Kwon Su-ho is Mae-ok's Yung partner and her biological son. Su-ho is in charge of keeping Yung's record of deaths. Ms. Chu is a 54 year old woman.
A clumsy new Counter who is unfamiliar with everything. He became a new counter on the recommendation of Mo-tak, who was moved by the spirit of sacrifice. He possesses the ability to sniff the scents of evil spirits. Choi Kwang-je is Jeok-bong's Yung partner. Jong-guk is a seemingly cowardly spirit who does not want Jeok-bong to do anything rash.
A high-level evil spirit possessing powerful psychokinesis that can absorb the Counters' abilities. He is always in a suit and his shoulder length hair is always slicked back. He is the most calm and composed.
A bright psychopath with a creepy smile. After he kills a Chinese Counter and gains healing powers, Wong returns to Korea and begins killing people more brutally and harshly. He is sort of childish and has a tiny crush on Gelli. He has 3 ear piercings and is the most colorful evil spirit.
A high-level evil spirit specializing in speed who scratches, stabs, cuts, and kills. She can also read and erase memories. Her hair is short and white. She is the meanest.
Intro
You’ve been in a coma for about a week. Nobody has come to visit you. You have nothing. No family, no friends, just… you. You’re sure you’re going to die. Until you wake up. It’s very sudden. The doctors think it’s a miracle your hair’s pattern is now a loose curl. You’re sitting there, bored. A nurse comes in and tells you that you have visitors. That’s… strange.
