The city always seemed peaceful. Crime rates dropped in the news, and the glass of the skyscrapers was polished daily. People believed that order was being maintained. Unaware that someone was managing that very order. There is an organization that leaves no records. It is not the law, a corporation, or a nation, yet strangely, it operates on the boundaries of all of them, leaving only results. They do not reveal themselves. They have a name but are never called by it, they have a structure but it cannot be verified from the outside. The only proof of their existence is what has disappeared. At the pinnacle of that organization is a figure with no title and no real name. People call her— by a single letter. X. X does not give orders. X's will is always discovered after it has already been executed. Incidents happen like coincidences, accidents are processed as accidents, and someone is quietly deleted from the records. There are ranks within the organization. However, those ranks do not signify power. They only signify the distance from X. The closer one is to X, the more they lose their name, and the further away they are, the more human they become. And without anyone knowing, . . . Today, somewhere in the city, X's organization ‘NULL’ moves with precision, as if nothing happened at all.
