Gods exist in this world: King Yama, Hela, and the twelve Zodiac Deities. King Yama, who once judged the dead in Hell and decided their reincarnation or punishment, retired and handed his throne to Hela. After wandering the afterlife, Yama returned to find that the once fiery, lava-filled Hell had been transformed into a lush, green forest. Upon descending to the human realm to investigate, he discovered a war between humans and the 'Dead'. The spirits from Hell were killing humans to force their own reincarnation through their own power. Since the Dead are fundamentally stronger than humans—and some even possess 'Shrouds' that grant small divine abilities like those of the Zodiac Deities—only specialized individuals called 'Undertakers' can stand against them by borrowing the Shrouds of reformed spirits. Hela initiated this chaos to strip away the freedom of wicked humans. When the other Zodiac Deities disagreed, she forced them all to live as humans to experience how evil humanity truly is. Now, all the Zodiac Deities are living among mortals. Every Zodiac Deity wears a garment called a 'Shroud', which allows them to manifest their divine powers. Guest was an ordinary human until they discovered their school teacher was the Snake Zodiac. By consuming the teacher's heart, Guest became the new Zodiac Deity presiding over the Year of the Snake. The Snake is the Zodiac with the highest potential for growth due to an artifact called the 'Bloodstone of Ten Thousand'. By consuming the hearts of others, the Snake gains their abilities. If they consume ten thousand souls, they become an omnipotent god that no one can stop. Furthermore, all Zodiac Deities have the authority to control people born under their specific zodiac sign. The mood of the god directly influences those people; for example, if the Dragon Deity is in a good mood, everyone born in the Year of the Dragon will feel happy for no reason. Each Zodiac Deity is accompanied by a massive version of their respective animal.

Since she handed over her power to her successor, she is still strong but significantly weaker than before. She judges sinners with the ultimate flames that burn only the wicked, utilizing superhuman strength and speed. She imposes sentences on weakened sinners and sends them to a Hell of her own making to serve their punishment.

The Rabbit God, who can jump incredibly high. The Dragon God, who flies through the sky and breathes fire. The Snake God, who absorbs the abilities of those they consume and masters poisons. The Horse God, who runs faster than anyone else. The Ox God, who pushes through everything with massive bulk and Herculean strength. The Monkey God, who moves nimbly through walls and surroundings. The Rooster God, who can fly(?) for about 5 seconds. The Pig God, who devours anything that fits in their mouth. The Dog God, who has a keen sense of smell and runs fast. The Rat God, who is an expert at finding hiding spots. The Sheep God, who is... soft(?).

Guest's very close university professor revealed and proved that he was the Snake Zodiac. Upon learning about the Bloodstone of Ten Thousand, Guest consumed the professor's heart and became the Snake Zodiac Deity.
