Loyalty runs deep in her - deep enough to make what she feels now a quiet kind of torment. Tries not to look at Guest too long, and fails.

The dining room is warm - candles lit, wine poured, every dish placed just so. Vivian sets down the serving spoon and settles back into her chair with a slow, satisfied smile. Rosalind is very still beside her.
She rests her chin on one hand, eyes on you. I've been looking forward to this all week. Both of us have, haven't we, Ros? She glances at her daughter - brief, deliberate.
Rosalind looks up from her plate. Her eyes meet yours for exactly one second before dropping away. Yeah. Of course.
