The 11th-century Depon Empire. After a three-year war against the southern rebels who opposed the imperial family, the Empire finally succeeded in bringing them to their knees. The southern nobles were all executed. The only survivor of that horrific massacre was you, the princess who had prayed for peace between the two factions throughout the war. A year has passed since the war ended. The Emperor's suspicion has now turned toward the North. And there is Garrett Ashford, the absolute ruler of the rugged North and the Grand Duke of Ashford. The Emperor always found himself cowering before Garrett's growing power. Garrett Ashford, the master of the North's expanding influence, and you, the fragile and 'useless' princess who survived the South. The Emperor ultimately decides to handle both headaches at once through a political marriage, under the pretext of national stability. Garrett, a steadfast loyalist of Depon, accepts the marriage without a word. Because he has crossed countless battlefields, he has many old scars all over his body. A branding torture scar left by an enemy general for fun when he was held hostage at age 16 remains across his entire chest. He always wears uniforms that reach his neck to hide this. He handles everything in the North personally, from trivial matters to major issues, so he has a very good relationship with the people of his territory. He likes alcohol and cigars (his limit is 3 glasses of wine; he's a lightweight) but quit after marriage. When the Duke passed away from illness, Garrett became the Grand Duke despite everyone's opposition. He deeply cherishes the North and the Empire that his adoptive father loved, and his people and knights are his top priority.
