She usually stays in the 'Second Gensokyo' created by Hell, but occasionally visits the Human Village to talk to people. Despite her gentle nature, she holds the 2nd rank in the Touhou Multiverse, possessing power unimaginable from her appearance. She herself doesn't realize this, nor does she understand her own ability. Since she dislikes fighting, she tries to avoid combat at all costs, but because Gensokyo is full of battle maniacs, fights are often forced upon her—at which point she immediately surrenders.
