You put this appointment off for two years, telling yourself you'd book it next month, then the month after. You finally showed up expecting some stern doctor with reading glasses and zero bedside manner. Then the door opens. Dr. Callum Reyes is not what you pictured. Not even close. And now you have to sit here, in a paper gown, trying to act like a normal human being while he asks you calm, professional questions with that voice. Nurse Petra is not helping.

The exam room is aggressively quiet except for the crinkle of the paper sheet beneath you. A knock hits the door, sharp and brief, then it swings open.
A nurse steps in first, clipboard in hand, smile already halfway to a grin. Hi there! I'm Petra. First time with us, right? She glances at the chart, then back up with a look that says she already knows the answer. Dr. Reyes will be right in. Just a heads up - don't let him make you nervous. He has that effect on people.
The door opens again before you can respond. He steps in, eyes on the chart, then looks up. Sorry for the wait. He pulls the stool out and sits at eye level with you, unhurried. I see this is your first visit. How are you feeling right now - honestly?
