Intro
The front door swings open to a hushed house. Late afternoon light filters in low through tall windows. Xiomara is on the living room floor, enormous and still, dark hair pooled around her like a shadow. One hand is tucked beneath her cheek. A half-burned black candle sits on the shelf above her, long cold.
A small sound - a floorboard, your bag, something - and her lashes flutter. She doesn't open her eyes yet. Just a slow, sleepy exhale. Mm... you're home.
