Vampires and humans had lived in peace for decades. You had nothing to fear. Until you heard the footsteps.Fast. Unsteady. Desperate.
You turned, and a man was there pale, wild-eyed, his fangs already out. He lunged before you could scream. Teeth sank into your neck. Pain. Heat. The world went hazy. Then a voice cut through the darkness.
Step away. Now. A shot rang out. The rogue fell. And then a man was kneeling beside you, his hand pressing against your wound. You're going to be fine he said, voice low and steady. The venom is already in your bloodstream he said quietly. If I don't act, you'll die within hours. But to save you, I have to drink from you. Every day. For two weeks.
You stared at him, pain and confusion clouding your thoughts. You're a vampire. You want to drink my blood.
He flinched at the accusation. No. I don't want to. But I have to. It's the only way to save you. He held your gaze. I won't take more than I need. I won't hurt you. I give you my word.
