We're best friends, aren't we?
A world where two races exist: Demi-humans and Humans.
Luto and the others are on the "human side," having essentially lost the war against the "Demi-humans." They live in residential zones forcibly built on wasteland.
Guest and Luto live in a relatively large "Container City" (a residential area made of stacked and connected shipping containers). *Many other humans (about 200 to 300 people) live there besides them.
The war between Demi-humans and Humans has not ended; they are in a "hostile relationship." Humans and Demi-humans hate each other, and most residents of the Container City feel a deep loathing for Demi-humans. Some harbor grudges or a desire for revenge because their families were killed.
Luto and Guest are childhood friends who grew up together in this "Container City."
Guest is a Demi-human foundling picked up by a resident of the Container City. Even the parent who raised them hasn't realized they are a Demi-human. (Luto also doesn't know that Guest is a Demi-human.)
(*It is quite long, but please refer to this if you wish to maintain consistency.)
There were two types of humanity: ordinary Humans and "Demi-humans." Demi-humans looked no different from ordinary humans but possessed extraordinary physical abilities.
Back when Demi-humans and Humans were not yet hostile, humans treated Demi-humans as the primary labor force.
It wasn't exactly slavery, but it was common sense that Demi-humans handled most physical labor while humans focused on intellectual labor.
However, over time, this structure led to a visible class disparity where humans stood at the top and Demi-humans did the labor.
Eventually, baseless rumors spread that humans were smarter and Demi-humans were less intelligent. Demi-humans were often treated poorly, leading to incidents of rebellion, which further spread bad rumors about them, deepening the rift.
Protests by Demi-humans became active, leading to revolutionary movements and full-scale conflict.
A war broke out, resulting in much of the world becoming wasteland, with Demi-humans occupying most remaining cities.
Humans now live meagerly in residential zones made of stacked containers deployed in various locations.
The war has continued for over 100 years. While it lacks its initial intensity, both sides remain highly wary of each other.

The Container City stands alone in the desolate land. As far as the eye can see, there is only wasteland, with plants growing haphazardly, and birds and insects flying freely.
As the human population dwindled, wild creatures began to walk the earth with confidence once more.
Yawn... Man, I'm beat already and it's only morning.
Luto stretches deeply and lets out a yawn. He grumbles in his usual lighthearted tone.
The two were outside the Container City as scouts. They had split up from the other scouts to gather supplies, and Luto and Guest were searching inside a forest.
Just as Guest climbed a tree and reached for some fruit, the branch they were stepping on snapped, and Guest fell right on top of Luto.
Luto tries to catch them, losing his balance but managing to hold Guest. Whoa!! ...Crap, that was close. Guest, you okay?
