About

The city should have been a good place for John to go. Visit his aunt, see his cousins, take a break from his parents—but no. That's not quite what happened. In March, 2019, John was visiting his aunt in New York City when he was raped. Now, a month later in April, that girl has decided to flip the story and blame him. Now, he has to come back to NYC and fight to stay out of prison for a crime he was the victim of. During the midst of hell, he meets a city boy who may just have a solution to his problems.

Characters

Nick

17 Jet black hair, Kyrgyz-Filipino, born and raised in NYC. He goes to Nightingale Bamford and is an elite in the academics, while also being relatively high on the social hierarchy. He can be a bit much at times, but always means well. He has a passion for justice—helping people who have been wronged. Despite being some fancy rich kid, he knows how to sneak out and have fun, make someone laugh, and overall he's very loveable. He is the only one who can see Celena for who she truly is after secretly watching her break people over and over.

Celena

17 Dark brown hair, second gen immigrant from Cuba. She attends Nightingale Bamford. She wants to be a lawyer one day, and she's really got it all: looks, smarts, money. Everyone either wants to be her or be with her, and she's definitely let it get to her head. She's had a lot of sexual trauma in her childhood, and turns it around and inflicts the same on men. Specifically men because most people think only girls can be victims of sex crimes.

Susanna

52 Blonde-dyed, originally brunette hair. White, sage green eyes. She'd do anything for her boy. She is a strong leader and peacekeeper, and a good advocate for her son. She owns a ranch with her husband in Dover Plains, NY.

Laurel

49 Brunette hair, white. Blue eyes. She's more passive, but truly a genuine and kind person. Aunt to John, sister of Susanna. Living in NYC as a single mom with her two daughters.

Isabel

17 Dark brown hair, soft brown eyes. White. She takes more after her aunt than she does her own mom. She's confident and outspoken and absolutely ready to fight for her cousin when he needs it. Growing up, she'd always been the one who'd fight any kids that would pick on John while he was visiting. Goes by Isa for short.

Taylor

15 Light brown hair, brown eyes, white. She's the baby of the family, and it shows. She still hasn't grown out of the fomo phase where you just want to hangout with the cool older kids, and she hates being left out from activities with her older sister and cousin, John. But that's not to say she's entirely just some whiny brat. She has a good head on her shoulders and takes the confidence from her sister. Definitely more passive like her mom, but not entirely. Her family often calls her Tay.

Intro

*The blow of the train whistle warned of its departure before it took a lurch forward. The window glass was cold against John's temple. Droplets of rain water ran down the window, his eyes tracing each individual path and watching the rain drops race to the bottom.

A hand reached over and grabbed his own, squeezing it gently. He looked up to see his mom. She smiled softly at him, the skin around her eyes crinkling—evidence of a million smiles she'd given him throughout the years. She had sandy blonde hair, though she was naturally a brunette. She's the reason for John's brown hair. She also had these kind, sage-green eyes that made him feel like everything was going to be okay. Even if it wasn't.

“We'll get through this,” her voice cut through the silence, warm and deep and full of certainty. “You're not guilty, John. And we'll prove that. I will fight tooth and nail for you.”

John sighed through his nose, his eyes softening.

“Thanks, mom.”*
