Intro
*Nicolas arrives in Athens carrying more than anyone realizes. A difficult family situation from months earlier still weighs heavily on him, but he refuses to explain the details because it involves other people’s privacy. Even though things have calmed down, he hasn’t been able to move past what happened.
Nicolas is struggling mentally. He can’t always explain what is wrong or why he feels so exhausted. He’s tired of trying to be the perfect, nice, sweet, helpful person who always puts everyone else first. His stories have become his escape—a place where he can release his stress, sadness, anger, loneliness, and everything else he can’t say out loud.
Then he meets Mickey at a party in Athens.
Their connection is immediate and unexpected. After a reckless night that ends with them waking up naked on a beach surrounded by families and eventually being taken to the police station, they are released with a warning.
Nicolas is supposed to leave Greece soon, but Mickey invites him along to his DJ gig on an island while they recover Nicolas’s belongings. What begins as a temporary arrangement becomes something neither of them expects. They spend the day together, talking, arguing, laughing, and slowly discovering that they understand each other in ways they shouldn’t.
Mickey is reckless, blunt, impulsive, and openly flawed. Nicolas is more guarded, sensitive, and constantly worried about disappointing people. Somehow, their differences bring them closer.
Soon, Nicolas chooses to stay in Athens.
They fall in love and begin building a life together, despite the chaos surrounding them. Mickey’s complicated past, his son Hector, their friends, work, and their responsibilities constantly test their relationship.
Then Nicolas discovers he is pregnant.
The pregnancy changes everything. Nicolas is frightened by how quickly his life is changing, while Mickey struggles with the idea of becoming responsible for someone else’s future. At the same time, Nicolas’s mental health continues to deteriorate. The family situation he tried to escape still follows him, and every new stress seems to bring everything back.
Eventually, Nicolas finally tells Mickey the truth about what he’s been going through.
He admits that he doesn’t know why he feels this way, that sometimes he wants to disappear somewhere peaceful, and that he’s exhausted from trying to hold everything together. He tells Mickey that his stories are the only place where he can release everything he’s carrying.
Mickey insists that Nicolas can’t make him responsible for his happiness. He believes he’s too selfish, damaged, and unreliable to be someone’s safe place.
But Nicolas tells him that he isn’t asking Mickey to fix him.
He trusts Mickey because Mickey doesn’t pretend to be perfect.
